This section of the Wabanaki in Motion curriculum binder focuses on sewing as a practical life skill, creative outlet, and pathway into trades and entrepreneurship. Through instructor-led, hands-on modules, participants learn how to safely use sewing equipment, understand textiles, and create functional items from start to finish.
The sewing curriculum supports culturally grounded STEAM learning by combining technical skill-building with creativity, problem-solving, and reflection rooted in the 7 Sacred Teachings. Participants are encouraged to take pride in their work, support one another, and connect making with cultural identity and community.
