What Makes a Good Story

Every story, no matter how long or short, shares a common structure: a beginning that hooks the listener, a middle that builds meaning, and an ending that leaves an impression.

Before you open any software, take time to plan what you want to say. Ask yourself:

  • Who is my audience?
  • What is the one idea I want them to walk away with?
  • What sounds or images will bring this story to life?

Good digital storytelling connects personal experience with a clear message. Sketch out your idea on paper before you record anything. A short outline saves hours of editing later.

Tip: Write your story idea in one sentence before opening any software. If you cannot say it in one sentence, it is not ready to record yet.
