Video Editing in DaVinci Resolve
DaVinci Resolve (free version) is a professional-grade video editor. The Cut and Edit pages are where most new editors start.
Getting started:
- Import your clips. In the Media Pool panel, right-click and choose Import Media.
- Drag clips to the timeline. The timeline arranges your story in order, left to right.
- Trim clips. Drag the edge of a clip to shorten it. Press B to switch to the Blade tool and cut a clip at a specific point.
- Add b-roll. B-roll is supporting footage that plays while your voice continues. Drag it onto a second video track above your main track.
To export, go to Deliver, choose YouTube or H.264/MP4, click Add to Render Queue, then Start Render.
Tip: Save your project early and often. DaVinci Resolve auto-saves, but naming and saving your project the moment you open it protects your work from unexpected crashes.
